Desktop background

Today I was just messing around with my PSP and some Digital Scrap Kits that I've had for a while now and decided to put together a 'page' to use as my new desktop background.
I used the most recent photo of my 3 boys and the "Jingle Baby" kit from Sweet Shoppe Designs along with a quote I found and liked from scrapbook.com, and here is what I came up with.
I made it to fit a 1280x768 screen resolution, but it will fit and still look right on most widescreen monitors. I'd be happy to make personalized desktop backgrounds for anyone who wishes to have one, Just drop me an email and we can go from there.
I have also been following along with thte Crop that's happening over at A Cherry On Top. So far so good, there are some great ideas and inspiring challenges over there this week-end. I'll post what I've been working on after the crop is over so stay tuned.

The making of a layout

Well it finally happened.... today I was FINALLY inspired enough to scrap something!!!! woohoo!!!!! Not only was I inspired to scrap something, but I also got an idea for how to blog about it too! So today is a "two-for" for you, a new layout AND a peek at my decision making process of how I go about completing a layout.

So to start with I "TRY" to get everything together for the page I'm about to create before I get started, especially when I already have an idea in mind. Keyword there is 'try'..... there are obviously times, when things don't work out as I see them in my mind, or times where I think of something that I have that will work much better (you'll see some of this going on as I post the photos of my work in progress).

Now before we get started here is a link to the page that inspired me and that I did a lil scraplifting from.

What you see below are the items I decided I want to work with: All papers are DCWV (the Citrus stack), inks are Studio G, Flowers are either from Prima and/or Kaiser, Kaiser bling, and just some other goodies from my stash.
Next step was pretty simple, I just cropped my photos and cut my papers to size. After everything was cut, I placed everything kinda where I wanted them to go just to get a feel for how things were gonna go.
I wanted the photos to 'pop' a little more so here was my first adjustment to my supplies I had already pulled out. I got a piece of white cardstock to mat the photos with and I also used it to stamp my journaling template on. I also inked EVERYTHING. I have a hard time NOT inking everything on my layouts....lol I also trimmed all my patterned paper down... each block was originally 6x6 but I decided that was a little too much so I trimmed them to 5x5.Now it's time to place everything out again.... as you can see I've changed some things a little, such as swapping out the flowers for different ones and other little things like that. The page is almost complete.... time to start sticking this stuff down!
I tend to use repositionable adheasive because I never like where I first put things.... or things don't end up straight (I always try to have things on angles anyway just to avoid being picky about straight lines). I did find a quote square (by my Minds Eye), that worked with the kids and the color combination of the layout, and I already had some glitter letters that matched well so I decided not to use the Cricut to cut my title like I had originally planned.
and there ya go....a finished layout to stick in my album. :) I had a lot of fun making this page today and I hope you at least got inspired today to have some fun of your own.

Time to get scrappy......

Hello to my followers and any new comers who are on board and reading with us today. As you can see from previous posts I haven't been doing a whole lots with just paper lately. I have had a lot of set back this past year. no Internet for inspiration, a child who LOVES to get into my stash and mess things up and as the kids get older my daily routine gets filled up more and more with the "Soccer Mom" routine of extra curricular activities. Well, I am here today to tell you I am taking back some of my 'me' time and get back to doing something I LOVE and have fun doing.

Today's post is gonna be a recap of some of my favorite past layouts that I've completed, hopefully by looking at them I will be reminded of how much fun I've had scrapping, and even better I hope they inspire some of you to get some stuff done for yourselves too. :)

So sit back, take a look and I'll be back soon with more great stuff to show you.

Valentine's Day Greetings

Happy Valentine's Day folks!!!! Now I admit this in probably my least favorite holiday of the year, but I had fun this year helping my kids with their Valentine's for their classes, and I made them a special heart shaped supper (breakfast for supper, but everything was cut into heart shapes).

This year Xavier, my oldest son wanted to do something special for his 'girlfriend' (he's only 9 so it's super cute that he even says he has a GF...hehe). Anyway, I helped him come up with the idea to make her a flower with his photo on it. The following pictures are of him during the creation process.

Here he is using my Cricut to cut the shapes he needed to make his flower.
Then I taught him how to ink his paper and he went right to town inking everything!!! (just like his momma ;) lol).
Halfway through the assembly process.... he's inking the center of the circle.
and he sticks his adorable lil face in the center of the flower.
....and here he is, very proud of his gift and a job well done. :) From what I heard when he got home, his GF loved the gift, and his teacher even took a photo of him giving it to her..... as a scrappy mom who HAS to document EVERYTHING I am hoping to get a hold of that photo! hehehe
We attached the stem and leaf with a hot glue gun so it held well.... but here it is, the finished project up close. Now to find the time for myself to make a flower pot for ME of all my flower children.

Until next time, happy crafting!

Playing Catch Up.....

Little by little I am getting caught back up on the layouts I am behind. Some of these are just from 2 years ago, the rest are even older (back when we were a family of 4 instead of a family of 5 to be exact). Anyway, it feels good to get these done, and hopefully I can get some more done soon.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to see what I've been up to. :)
