Where has the year gone??

Seriously!?! I know I'm not that great at updating my blog but it does NOT seem like it's been 6 months since my last entry! lol

Lots has happened since then, my baby boy turned 2! We had the most horrible summer weather ever (I'm still waiting to get a summer, somehow with Christmas around the corner and our days being below zero I don't think that will happen this year! lol). My oldest boy had a great soccer season (besides all the rained out games and practices) my boyfriend got a new job, we've moved, and I got to take my dream trip to NYC!!! Yahoo!

Now December is here and I am in full swing with the Christmas spirit and all the activities that go with it!!! The interior of the house is all decorated, tomorrow we get to go pick out our Christmas tree and I have been busy making some handmade gifts for my family. Oh and how can I forget to mention how extremely excited I am to follow along with Tim Holtz & this years 12 Tags of Christmas! I swear I wake up and check it out before I even think of my morning coffee I'm so excited. hehe Our calendar is filling up pretty quick with parties, events, and holiday preparations and I am so excited!!! It truly is the most wonderful time of year, full of lots of warm and fuzzy feelings!

Today I have my niece and nephew over for a visit, so I am going to hang with them while they are here, and hopefully I'll be back real soon with some more updates and some sneak peeks of what I am (and have been) working on!!

As always, Happy Scrappin'

Benifit of babysitting

This week-end we decided to hop in the van and drive to visit with family, since it was on the spur of the moment I didn't have time to think out any projects I could easily bring with me so I just made sure to pack up the laptop and away we went. When we got here my brother and sister-in-law needed a spur of the moment baby sitter.... how conveinent eh? I was all for it because it's been a while since I've spent a lot of time with the kids and honestly we had no other plans anyway, so I was pretty excited. They had a blast playing together all day, and once the night came and it got quiet I had some time to pull out the lap top and play with Candy's Treats new "June Collab" kit and came up with these two layouts.

I like the brown one so much, I'm thinking I might make a sketch for it before all is said and done.

This is a super cute and fun kit to play with.... I'm so glad I had some beachy pics to work with, but really theres so much more included in this kit that you could make pages of any theme. :)

Anyway, I better get back to these kids... one is asleep already, the big boys are still playing video gams but the baby is fighting going down so I need to try a lil harder with him. He's used to total dark and quiet when he is put to bed, so this place and the extra people are really throwing him for a loop.... and it's already 3 hours past his bedtime!

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your week-end!

I finally have a name here!

After a lot of thinking I have finally come up with a REAL name for my blog. To anyone who visits my blog you will remember this blog as being RJXRP designs. The RJXRP name was made by my boyfriend and I as a "Family Creations" name. Each letter in the name was the first letter of every name in our family. Ric, Jenn, Xavier, Robbie, Preston. Although I loved that idea, I knew I wanted a real name for my blog and Creations from the Cherry Pit is what I have come up with. :)

I am a collector of all things with Cherries on them; jewelery, housewares, decor, stationary, all things scrappy.... you name it, I probably have it with Cherries on it. My favorite candy flavour is, you guessed it Cherry....but here's something funny, I can't stand to eat the real fruit... LOL I grew up with 3 larger cherry trees right outside my bedroom window, the blossoms were so beautiful every year and it was fun to watch the cherries grow and hang in the trees as if it were a pretty picture hanging on my wall instead of me just looking out my window. The town where I grew up has a festival every year called Cherry Carnival, so as you can see they've been a big part of my life for a very long time.

All my scrapping friends know of my love of cherries and I have received a lot of wonderful gifts over the years from them. They always say they can't pass by something with Cherries on it without thinking of me, and to me that's the best part of the gift :) So, because of my obsession, I did in fact name my Scrap room the "Cherry Pit", how suiting eh? so THAT is where the blog name came from.... it was kind of a "duh Jenn" moment, after all I create projects in my scrap room.... I post them for you to see.... so wholla, creations from the Cherry Pit was born. :)

Here are a few pics of the Cherry Pit:
So there you go, a lil' history lesson for you today on me and my love for that pretty lil' red fruit :) I spent most of last night making my new topper and then played around this afternoon and made a matching blinkie for my blog too, feel free to grab it and put it on your own blog if you want.

Have a Great Week-end!

Lil Gifty Creations

Well, yesterday I was detrmined to play with paper and I had a couple of bookmarks to make for a friend so decided to make those and a few extras while I was at it.

I forget the original website I got this idea from (I saw it over a year ago but still had the file she shared on my PC to cut it with my Cricut.... I'll update when I locate the proper blog)... anyway, these lil corner bookmarks are so cute and so very easy to make. The hardest part to making them is trying NOT to use bulky embellishments so they can lie as flat as possible.
So my best friend is going out west for the summer and asked for a few of these lil guys before she left, so I used her favorite Pink/Brown/Orange color combo and came up with these...

Then I just kept going and made these ones as a end of the year Teachers Gift for my sons Teacher.
...and this one was one I originally made for my sons Teacher but thought it looked too childish so I put an 'X' on it and gave it to my son...hehe
That was the first half of my day. LOL Then for the rest of the day, most of the night and most of this afternoon I spent creating this Paper bag album (PBA). I caught up with an old friend from high school that I haven't seen pretty much since I graduated 9 years ago, she has two beautiful little girls and mentioned she wished she had time to pick up Scrapbooking, so I instantly thought to myself I'm going to make her a PBA! ....and the rest of the story lies in the photos I guess :P

I did have a lot of fun making this album because I RARELY get the chance to play with girly papers, colors and embllishments, so I am very happy with the outcome of this project considering I had no idea what to do! LOL
So I hope you like what you have seen and hopedully with any luck it inspires you to start a few projects of your own. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Scrappin'!

Just Playin' Around

I was looking around the Candy's Treats website with full intentions of grabbing a freebie kit and trying out some of the awesome tag tutorials but I got side tracked and ended up making a Digi Page instead...go figure :P

Anyway, I used the taggers sized "Wicked" Kit and made this page of myself. I'm always loved Oz, and I've always love witches (kinda hard not to love them being from Salem, MA and all), so I snagged the kit and used my photo from Halloween last year and made this page just for fun.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by and checking in on things here. It's been a long week... and I'm ready to lay down and enjoy the rest of the evening before the next week starts.

New Kits To Play With & A new sketch by me too!

Two new kits have been created by Candy's Treats and I got the chance to sit down last night and play around with them. I've got to tell ya, there is so much packed in to the Enchanted & After Dark kits, I had a really hard time not using too much and over doing my pages! LOL So needless to say, I'm definatly going to be using these kits for more creations. :)

These pages I made using pieces from the Enchanted Kit
(the large frame came from the after Dark Kit)

For the next layout I first created a sketch then used the kit to create what I did. So heres my Sketch

and this one I made using pieces from the After Dark Kit and the Freebie Kit.
...AND as if Digi Kits weren't already a steal for their already reasonable prices you can get BOTH of these kits as a Combo for even MORE savings! So head on over to Stargazer Scraps and snag this awesome deal! Don't forget to stop by the Candy's Treats blog, theres a great freebie and some quickpages there too!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

It's my birthday today! Woohoo, the day I get to travel all over the internet and visit all the different sites I belong to and change my age in all of my profiles....LOL

What will 27 bring me?? I dunno, but I'm gonna start this new year for me off by doing what I love.... SCRAPPING! I invited a friend over and we gonna scrap the day away, or at least the morning, I've also gotta fit baking a cake in the early afternoon, and an early supper along with Soccer practice for Xavier tonight, the work of Mom never takes a break, not even on her birthday! hehe

So with all that said, hopefully I'll be back later and have some creations to show you :)

Happy Scrapin'
~Jenn

********UPDATE********

Well I didn't get nearly as much scrapped as I had hoped, I guess that's what happens when A you don't plan your projects and B you haven't seen your best friend in a while and have tons to talk about and catch up on......LOL

I did complete these two layouts though. I really like how they turned out.

and just showing off my birthday presents I got on my birthday... a balloon flower from hubby, and a balloon mouse the kids picked out for hubby to make.

My birthday ALWAYS falls just before a pay day, so I never get anything on the actual day. It's all good I make sure to get something once pay day rolls around, hehe This year I put some new clothes on layaway to pick up next week, I'm very excited!

I'm part of a Creative Team!!!

A big THANK YOU to Diane over at Candys Treats for inviting me to become a part of her Creative Team! Her new Full Sized Digi Kits are super cute and I am having a lot of fun playing and creating with them :)

This Page I made using Candy's Treats "Playful" Kit. There is so much more to this kit you could get lots of pages done and no two pages would look alike!

I made this Page using Candy's Treats "Moms Day" Kit. Another beautifully put together kit, with loads of goodies to play with. The colors and pattern make for some really nice creations.

and here's a Girly one... The Kit used here is called "Dazzle"

If you like what you see, and would like to see more of these kits you can head over to the Candy's Treats blog or visit her shop over at Stargazer Scraps and purchase them for yourself.

A New Hobby

Over the past couple of months, I have discovered I really enjoy creating layout sketches. It started out as just messing around to see if I could really do it, to creating some exclusive sketches for Scrapping Friends (an online scrapping community), and now along with those exclusives I am going to be periodically posting sketches on my blog as well.

Here are previews of some sketches I've created for Scrapping Friends.... I am only showing those that have already been used, but there are plenty more in the sketch vault that will eventually be released and I can share a sneak peek with you. ;)

I am only 1 of many talented sketch designers on site including my friend Sandie who also shares her sketches on her blog Tales of the Steakgoddess. There is a new sketch posted in the group each week and all are left on site as an archive for later reference :) So if you like these sketches and you would like a better view of them, and if you'd like to meet other scrappers you should check out Scrapping Friends.

Now on to my first Blog Sketch. When it comes to creating sketches I work a little backwards. I usualy make the layout first THEN the sketch....LOL Theres just something about my approach of setting a certain amount of things in from of me and telling myself see what you can do with that... and I do. When I'm done, if I like how things turned out, I eventually make a sketch of it. So MOST times when I post a new sketch I'll have a sample layout to show you a possible end result to give you even MORE inspiration, or at least I hope so :)

Layout Sketch #1

Sample Layout

I also have this sketch in Digital template form, I haven't uploaded it yet since I' not sure if anyone would want it, but if you do send me an e-mail and I'd be happy to upload it and share with you Digi scrappers out there. :)

Hope you can get some ideas from this sketch and if you do I'd LOVE to see your results :)

A couple of cards

I thought I'd show off a couple of cards I've made reciently. These are all fairly simple but I had fun doing something I don't normally get to do.... play with the color PINK! Since I have all boys and don't normally have a chance to use pink I decided I could use it on cards so I bought the DCWV Sweet Mat Stack since it was so cute, and I'm just crazy about the cupcake trend so this paper is perfect for that also.

Speaking of the cupcake trend, how much do I LOVE the Studio G series 27 cupcake stamps?!!? Wel let's just say I almost wish they were real cause they look good enough to eat! They are soooo darn cute! So I have the whole set and have been having fun playing with them too, and of course they are perfect to go with the sweet stack!

Other than that I've used my usual favorites on these cards, stickles, dew drops, or skittles which ever you call them, ribbon, flock, glitter, primas, they're all here.

and this is just a card I did up trying to follow a T!m Holtz 12 Tags of Christmas tut... (Day 1 ~ 2007). I did manage to get all the techniques on to this cards, I did not have some of the materials on hand like the blending tool which really made inking the way he did a challenge. This card is far from perfect, and I call it my "Ugly Card", and still say if T!m saw this he might actually come to my house and take away all my TH products so I can't reproduce this! LOL

I give credit to a friend of mine, Nancy for the over all look of this card since I followed a sketch of hers. If you like the layout of this card, and are thinking "hmm, I'd like to see more sketches by this Nancy lady" there is a way. This sketch and many more are available exclusively to Scrapping Friends, a terrific online scrapbooking community (I go in to more detail of this place further down my blog if you are interested) ;)

Once again thanks for stopping by my blog, I hope you have a wonderful and creative day!

Happy Scrappin'

SCRAPPING FRIENDS

So, I'm a part of this group, an awesome group, an amazingly awesome group of super talented scrappers who enjoy each others company, and who enjoy sharring their work, tips, tricks and ideas..... sound good so far? What if I said that this group had nearly 100 paper crafting lessons, places to chat and get to know others, has fun games to participate in, and lots of different activities where you can win prizes, grant a fellow scrappers wish, and even make a wish of your own.... sound like even more good stuff?? What if I also told you there was a swapping area, with new swaps posted each month, and that there are weekly challenges to get you motivated to scrap and is a place where Traditional Scrappers and Digital Scrappers can be together?
Does this sound like a great place for a scrapper to be or what? ALL this wonderful stuff and I still haven't even mentioned the crops yet! Every year Scrapping Friends (or SF as the locals call it), holds quarterly crops each season. Each crop lasts approximatly 2 weeks and in that time there are lots of games to play, loads of challenges to keep you busy the entire time, and in the end, there are lots of great prizes to be won!

Well I'll tell ya first hand it is a wonderful place to be, and that place is http://www.scrappingfriends.yuku.com/ ! I have been a member of Scrapping Friends for a little over 3 years now and I have to say it's been the best experience in my life (well next to having my kids of course...lol). The talent of the group is beyond amazing, the kindness, support, and encouragement from the friends that you make is unbelievable! It really keeps your Scrappy Mojo going and if you do run in to Scrapper's Block, it isn't long before you are inspired by something to give a try.

So if this sounds like your kind of place then head on over to http://www.yuku.com/ and make an account and join us! Hope to see you there!

Another Month Gone

Here it is April, and I didn't make one single post in March.... bad bad me! If it's any consolation I didn't do much of any scrapping either! A card or two, and a few ATC's, that's about it (I'll post them later this week).
Let's see.... what has happened? My nephew turned 10 on March 12th. He's growing way too fast, I still remember him being the only lil man in my life then I had my 3 boys....sheesh. Here he is all grown up at his party.

Two weeks later my middle son Robbie celebrated his 4th birthday! He's such a funny guy, has really grown up this past year.... grew tall and has lost his baby fat. So sad to see the changes, but at the same time he's a real big boy now which starts a whole new level of excitement with things he can now do.

Xavier had his March Break from school.... he spent about 85% of that week playing with his wii......LOL In less than a month of having the thing he and his father both beat the Zelda Twilight Princess game. He was very proud of his accomplishment.
Now that the two big birthday months are gone, it is time to settle back down in to normal life and enjoy the rest of the year, but wait! My Sister in law and her two girls will be arriving in NS from BC for a visit for a few weeks.... YAY!!! The fun never ends! :)
Other than that I am getting super excited about spring being here, even though we are still covered with snow it is melting fast and I am getting excited to get out of the house with the boys, take them to the park, start geocaching again.... and then all the other fun summer things to come. Looking forward to another year of great pictures of memories to scrap!
Speaking of scrapping...Spring Crop coming up mid month...... boy do I need it! After scrapping nothing all March as of today I am 33 layouts behind on my "layout a day' goal! YIKES! I got together a bunch of old pics I've had here that I am having a hard time getting scrapped that I need to get done, I'm hoping to get them scrapped before the crop and then print off some new fun stuff to work with then, gotta keep the spirits up during crop time for maximum mass producing FUN! I don't need scrappers block causing photos holding me back! LOL
So there, you are up to date with the happenings here. I've got some fun (well more interesting fun than interactive fun) posts I want to make here so hopefully I won't go MIA any time soon!

Have a good day!

Where did I go?!?!?

Hello readers, if theres anyone out there actually following my blog you are probably wondering what happened to me and where I dissappeared off to. Well, I haven't ben far.... I've just been really busy, and now things have finally slowed down at least for now so I can play a little catch up here.

First thing to keep me busy, was helping out in the moving of an online group that I am an assistant manager of, many of you know what I am talking about...... Scrapping Friends! Anyway, there was a LOT going on behind the scenes to get the group moved over to it's new home on Yuku, before the 21st of this month which was when MSN had announced they were closing their groups forever. It's been a bitter sweet journey, so many new things to get used to and even though msn was a royal pain in the *** most days it was still the one place I called my online home for many years. The important thing though, is that we kept going, all our friends have moved with us and we get to continue to be the fun and supportive group of friends we always were.

Next on my busy Agenda.... my oldest son's 7th birthday! I don't know how it was that he got to be 7 already but it came and went in a flash! He had a great time at his party and is still enjoying all the goodies he got for his birthday. He loves Pokemon, so we did a pokemon themed birthday complete with pokeball cupcakes for his friends! He also got a lot of pokemon cards from his friends.... he had MAYBE 20 before his party and as you can see in the photo below he has a LOT more than that! LOL He also got a wii, and a few games/attachments with that. He was so excited! and he's goot at it too... kicks my butt at bowling every time we play! LOL

I spent over a week on cleaning patrol getting ready for his party and in the 2 hours his friends were here it was trashed! LOL That's how it goes though.... it's not too bad, a day of nit picking and it should be under control once again..... then in a month we get to do it all over again for Robbie's birthday!

In there somewhere I did manage to squeeze in a little scrapping time and got some cards made and a few small pages, nothing major, but hey at least it's something. :) Currently I am 7 pages behind on my layout a day goal for this year, so I'd like to get back on track at some point this week.

So there you have it...... the past 2 weeks in a nut shell. Hope you have a pleasant day!

Just Some Cards

I needed to make some "Thinking of You" style cards for a friend as a prize to a game we played. These are my usual style, I pulled some scraps out of my scraps bag the looked good together, grabbed a few sheets of cardstock and away I went. I didn't use any sketches to make these but will be making my own sketches for them.... is it wrong to create sketches backwards?? I say what ever works to get a sketch made for the next scrapper to use :)

All cards were inked with Cats eye liquid chalks, I used some super tiny Primas, Stickles, Liquid Pearls, Kaiser bling, and of course my Studio G Stamps.

So this is what I picked at all day long! I only had time for bits and pieces here and there so I thought I did pretty well considering :)

till next time.......
